Jennifer and Jacob

I just got my favorite thing in the mail today...bubble wrap envelope! This can only mean one thing, an awesome bride just sent me pictures from her wedding. Here's a few choice shots from Jennifer and Jacob's wedding. We made them a love-bird topped chocolate and gold wedding cake, and finished the guests' collective sugar-high with a candy table.

Couldn't help but post a couple photos of them, they're so adorable. Thanks to Serendipity Photography for capturing the day so beautifully.

Don't you just love when they match?

When you do the kind of crazy custom stuff that we do over here at Gateaux, there can be an whole lotta' clashing cakes in one fridge in any given week. But every once in a while, the cake gods smile down upon us, and for no apparent reason, there is refrigerator harmony, even with three wedding cakes in there! This was one of those rare weeks.

While all three weddings were quite unique in their own style, they looked really cool together in our humble Coldtech fridge.

Here's a shot of Alison and Toby's Casino themed reception cake (married in Vegas, if you hadn't guessed). Also, Lacey's beautifully graphic, ultra chic cherry blossom look and Michelle's over the top guilded (yes, that's edible gold) number.

Okay, okay, the football helmet cake didn't quite fit the fridge motif for the week, but it was a damn good surprise to Michelle's CSU-crazy groom!

Purple!

Jennifer had the most wonderful, vibrant pallette for her wedding. We sketched her cake several different ways, and colored it in as a white cake with two tone purple flowers, but it just didn't capture her style. A purple cake with white flowers, however...

Eve's Daisy Cake

This couple were great to meet with. I loved them instantly. We designed several options during our first meeting, but I think they chose the best one. I especially love the groom's enthusiasm for frosting "stuff on wires" which we were able to accommodate with the frosting bumblebees on the cake. We added the dashed bee-lines after seeing the sweet little invitations that Amy from Mimi designs came up with for the couple.

Kristine's Cake

Kristine knew she wanted a lace cake to match her dress before she even chose the specific dress! Once we saw the dress she decided on, we were smitten! A delicate Chantilly lace with tiny tulle ruffle accents led us to this little sweetie of a cake.

Andrea's Stripes and Polka Dots

Somehow, the simplest of designs are always the most striking. Andrea's cake stemmed from a striped bow tie. We added the dots to break up the graphic and used three different shades of green from her bridesmaids' dresses. We were lucky to find this crisp green and white grosgrain ribbon for the favour boxes which were filled with our hand-made petit fours (per the groom's request, he had one, and he was hooked!)

Up and Blogging!

We're so lucky at Gateaux to have such unique clients to inspire our cake designs. It makes our job so incredibly fun! After being urged by some of our past clients, as well as our friends over at Studio 306 to create a blog to share our latest creations with the blogosphere (blogisphere? I don't know my make-believe techno-geography terms quite yet) we've finally taken the plunge.

If you are a past client, and don't see your cake posted, email us a picture. While the cake ladies aren't total hacks in the photography department, every once in a while, we just don't get a decent shot of one of the little sugar-beauties.
